Just a piece of garbage

Being able to do anything for someone you love is truly a bliss to the heart. Someone who deserves it, who makes your meaningless life meaningful again.

He was ready to do anything for the sake of that one person, Danica Armstrong, his girlfriend.

Richard looked at the mirror one last time and smiled in satisfaction of how he looked. Even though he wasn't classy enough, he made sure to look as good as he could. He planned on making his Danica proud.

The door opened and a young man his age walked in. Seeing him through the mirror, the young man laughed out loud.

"What do you think you are doing Richard? I thought you listened to me when I told you to forget about the party? That party isn't for someone like you. The class of people attending are way more than your class. Infact, you are just a piece of garbage to them." As always, his friend Mike was there to mock at him.

He has always being jealous of him since he started dating Danica so Richard wasn't surprised at all.

Danica is of a high-class level. Her dad is among the ten top richest men in the country and her mom, a mayor. While for him, he doesn't know his parent. He was abandoned in the orphanage as a baby and his life has since being filled with nothing.

Hardly does he earn a thousand dollar even with the numerous part-time jobs he does, but well, he was cheated on by some bosses. As for Danica, she has everything at her doorstep if she calls for it.

"Don't start now Mike. Danica isn't bothered about my class. Infact, she was the one who invited me to the party cause she want me to meet her dad. According to what she said, she talked to her dad who promised me a job," he replied confident and combed his hair backwards.

Mike on the other hand, laughed and laid back on the bed. "You are making a grave mistake. Many rich people are terrible. Do you even know the kind of job she meant? Do you think you will ever be accepted into the Armstrong's family? You are nothing. We are all nothing."

Richard sighed deeply and dropped the combed on the bed. "Enough with your talks and tell me how I look," he turned to face him.

"You should know how you look," Mike placed his palms at the back of his head and laid down, facing the paintings of the Angels on the ceiling. "I wonder how people would look at you. You, Richard Flair, going to a party with an old suit worth thirty five dollars, a shoe you borrowed from the priest, your hair not being trimmed caused you have no money and you coming out of the cab in front of the big dudes. Bro, you will stand out among them."

Richard picked his almost unrecognizable phone and put it in his pocket. "I am just twenty-one, you don't know what the next few years has for me. I might be the next big tycoon." He scrunched his nose and left but not without giving Mike a middle finger when he yelled after him.

"Keep being a dreamer. You are just an orphan who feeds from hands to mouth idiot!!"

Richard walked out of the orphanage and stood by the road side, waiting for a cab. While he waited patiently, his mind went back to what Mike said but he shoved it off, tagging it a distraction to what he wanted to do.

Meeting Mr Armstrong would be a life changing for him. If what Danica said would happen, then he would be able to leave the orphanage dorm as he is old enough to leave after all.

A light was shone at him, distracting his mind from what he thought about. He heaved a sigh of relief and flapped his hand to stop the coming cab.

The short journey to the Armstrong's estate ended quickly than he expected. His heart was beating so fast that he thought anyone who comes close to him would hear his beats.

Some guests were standing by the entrance to the family's hall and so when the cab pulled over and he came out, their attentions were on him.

Richard was so nervous as he had never stood before people. He was a shy person and would easily break down if asked to speak to them.

All nervousness in him suddenly disappeared when he saw Danica and he noticed her gaze was on him.

He waved at her with a huge smile plastered on his lips but she quickly looked away and smiled at the young man before her, pretending not to have seen him.

Richard smiled widened as he called out her name, "Hey Danica!"

And that brought more attention back to him. All eyes on him again. Did he yell too loud? He wondered trying to avoid their gazes. He has never being to parties like that so it was likely he got carried away.

He looked back at Danica, who was looking away, still not looking at him. With a smile, he went on to go meet her.

Half way to where she stood, a man walked to him and stopped him from going further.

"Where do you think you are going? The backdoor is that way." He said pointing at a different direction.

"Well, I just want to say hi to Danica. She invited me."

The man eyes went wide as he scrutinized him from head to toe, obviously not pleased with what he said.

"You must be joking. I don't want to waste my time here so go through the backdoor, get changed and fucking get to work. The guests need some drink and standing here, doing nothing would do no good for either of us. Get your fucking ass to work now!" He half yelled through his teeth.

Richard laugh a bit and shook his head, "I was invited here by Danica as a guest and not a server."

"Who sends people like this over here?Goodness, this agents are the worst." He muttered in frustration, rubbing the lines between his brows.

"You can ask her though."

The man looked at Danica who was laughing with her familiar guests from school. Richard knew them as her friends in school.

She attends the most prestigious school in the country while Richard also school there on scholarship and works as a cleaner too.

The butler took his gaze back to Richard, "Okay, enough with these games, you are fired. Now leave!"

"But, I am not here for work. I am with Danica."

"What would Miss Danica want from a trash like you? Leave before I call the securities." He raised his voice, getting more attentions to them.

Seeing a chaos happening, Danica rushed down to them.

"Thank goodness Danica, please explain it to him. He thinks I am a server."

Danica took her gaze to the butler and glared at him. "What is your problem Ben. You should handle this properly and not create a scene. I don't want my father coming down here." He bowed his head while she took her gaze back to Richard.

"I signed you up as a server in this party. You shouldn't create a scene but do as you are told."

Richard eyes widened upon hearing that.
