FOLLOW-UP QUESTION

The aroma of the food Mary was making was what Alexander followed and went to the dining room because the kitchen was just beside it.

Now, he would have continued to follow it to the kitchen, but, because it wasn’t his house, he didn’t want to feel like he was overstepping his boundaries.

People’s kitchens were usually considered private areas where permission needed to be requested and granted first before entering, especially when the person who wanted to go in was a first-time guest.

Alexander looked down at the wrung boxer briefs in his hand then he looked at the kitchen and said “Aunty Mary, can you please direct me to the clothes dryer?”

“Sure thing,” the elderly woman said as she came to where Alexander was standing, wearing an apron and holding a rag used to hold pots when they got too hot.

The elderly woman gave Alexander the directions to the basement.

“Thank you,” he said then followed the direction and when he got closer, he started to hear the sound of the washing machin
