Chapter 7 Hands Off My Patients
Ashton appeared unusually calm. Kendra was sitting beside him, and she could not help but get chills from his cool demeanor.

Alora was still on the phone, venting her rage and listing the crimes Ashton had committed. "Do you have nothing to say? Someone like you has to be caught red-handed. Otherwise, there is no telling how much longer a phony like you can fool me. You truly disgust me!"

"Are you done?" Ashton asked softly.

Alora's limbs trembled in anger. What did he mean, was she done? Not only did he not explain to her seriously, but he asked if she was done talking. What if she was, and what if she was not? Did he think she would just let the matter go? Nobody in Edren County was allowed to bully her family, much less him!

"I'm warning you, Ashton. You only have one chance to explain yourself! When my fiance or I come to you in person, it'll be too late!"

Ashton sneered. "We've just gotten divorced today, and you've already got yourself a fiance. You are efficient, Alora, but I'm afraid I can't give you an explanation. You're welcome to ask your mother or brother for it and see if they could give you one."

"You despicable, shameless swine! I've already given you a chance, so don't blame me for not holding back!" Alora was exasperated.

Ashton said, "Am I despicable and shameless? Thanks to the colorful comment you've given me, we're officially over today. I was the one who beat them up. Whatever you want to do, I'll play along with you. You're now the president of three companies, so I am curious how you can make me apologize to you."

Alora was in a daze as she listened to the phone's busy tone. That was the first time Ashton had hung up on her.

After a while, Alora calmed down. She pulled Tyson's arm away from her and stared right ahead. "I will almost certainly get a deal to work with the Royal Sealift Group after tonight. I will establish myself in Edren County's upper crust. I will make you bow to me when the time comes, Ashton. I will make you understand that you are nothing without me, and there is a huge gap between us that you will never be able to bridge," Alora said coldly and firmly as if making a vow.

At the same time, Ashton sat quietly in the backseat at the opposite end of the car. Kendra sat next to him, her mouth agape, staring at him.

She had thought that Ashton was calm, collected, and confident ever since she met him. However, what she had seen earlier had caused her to see him in a different light. It looked like he could get angry, be hysterical, and lose control of his emotions as well. Without a doubt, it was because of the woman on the other end of the call that he had such a change.

Kendra was wearing a puzzled expression on her face. She could hear the conversation because she was sitting next to him and knew he was divorced and the woman on the phone was his ex-wife. She was curious as to what kind of woman could make a calm man lose his cool and make a man with such self-control fall in love with her. Was there a more outstanding woman in South Edren than Kendra?

"Mister Levin, are you in trouble because I beat them up earlier? I am willing to accept the consequences and apologize to her."

Ashton shook his head. "No need."

"Alright. I won't ask any further. We'll go to the headquarters at Bayside Port now. I have a gala to attend later, and I hope I'll be able to make it in time."

Kendra could not help but put her hand on her head as she looked at her schedule on the phone.

Her father let her take over the Royal Sealift Group's headquarters in Edren County to put her to the test. Every day, she had to deal with so many trivial issues that her head was about to explode.

Twenty minutes later, a brightly lit tower appeared before their eyes. That was the Royal Sealift Tower, the Edren County branch office.

As Ashton followed Kendra to the top floor, he noticed many nervous nurses rushing past them. He could tell the situation was critical and could not wait any longer.

"All of the patients have been brought here, Mister Levin. There are 37 of them in total. I will have someone send over all of their medical records later."

"No need. I'll know what's going on after I look at them."

An old doctor walked out of the room, worried, just as Ashton was about to open the door. "I see you are back, Miss Lockwood," he sighed as he approached Kendra.

"What's the situation now, Doctor Cook?" Kendra asked in concern.

The doctor, Morgan Cook, shook his head. "It's useless. I've tried every method but can't determine why they got ill. That's why I can't prescribe the right medicine, either. I've been practicing medicine for over 50 years, but this is the first time I've encountered such an abnormal condition."

When Kendra heard that, her heart sank. Morgan was known as Miracle Morgan in the field because his treatments could perform miracles, bringing the dead back to life. He was not only from a family of doctors who had been practicing for generations, but he was also a professor at Edren Hospital. If he was at his wit's end, could Kendra find another person in South Edren, North Edren, or even the entire country to assist her?

Kendra took a deep breath before turning to look at Ashton. He was her last hope. "Mister Levin, I'm putting all my hopes in you now…"

"As I've said before, I'll do my best. Let's go in."

Morgan abruptly blocked Ashton's path as he was about to enter the room. Morgan turned to Kendra, puzzled, and asked, "May I know who this is, Miss Lockwood?"

Kendra smacked her forehead. "Oh, yes, I forgot to introduce him. This is the legendary Doctor Levin."

"Legendary doctor?" Morgan was stunned, finding it hard to believe. Then, he smiled and said, "This situation that we're in is not something anybody wanted, Miss Lockwood. You're not the only one who's anxious. I'm just as anxious as you. However, no matter how anxious we are, you can't be reckless about getting a doctor. This is a matter of life and death."

Kendra frowned. "Doctor Cook, this is the doctor that my father—"

"Miss Lockwood, you can be ignorant, but you mustn't be foolish. Your family has such a huge business empire, and plenty of people are eyeing it. Everybody is looking for an opportunity to scam you for your money. If you don't have a keen eye, no matter how big your family's business is, you will be cheated out of your entire fortune one day."

Morgan raised an eyebrow, then sneered at Ashton. "You're quite a young man, but you have some serious ambition. You're still so inexperienced, yet you're already scamming others. A legendary doctor? More like a legendary scammer. How can you figure out if it's a condition that even I can't cure? Don't make me laugh."

Kendra felt troubled. She knew Morgan was an extremely stubborn old man. He was a highly skilled doctor, but his temper had always been a big problem. However, she did not expect that he would be so stubborn to meddle with what kind of doctor she got. Nevertheless, Morgan was her father's friend, so she had to respect him.

"Doctor Cook, don't be so harsh. We're just trying to save lives here," Kendra said.

Morgan did not listen to her. "Miss Lockwood, I'm just assessing him for you. Also, I won't allow another doctor to mess with my patients. That insults me, and I refuse to be embarrassed."
