Chapter 7-Meeting Father-in-Law Again

"Congratulations Stefan Prostakov, you are the successful participant and will become the personal guard of the director of the Solonik Company."

The entire executive of the company applauded. The role of the director's personal guard is very important because he has to risk everything to keep the director safe.

But until now Stefan hadn't met the director he would be guarding.

After the selection was completed, Stefan was directed to a room with other executives. And that's where Lena was.

"Congratulations Stefan, my prediction wasn't wrong. You're really talented," Lena said.

"Thank you." Stefan was sure that this win helped by the ring he wore on his middle finger now. Because the ring was shining again when the selection began, where Stefan was in danger of risking his life to be the winner.

"Have a seat. I'll explain your duties." Lena and the other officers took their seats, and Stefan took the empty seat next to Lena.

"Your current status is as the director's personal guard. The director is my father, the owner of the Solonik Company that works in many fields."

A projector screen displayed a profile of the director and the Solonik Company.

"The director had at least 9 bodyguards in the past and they were all killed because they didn't do their job well. You, Stefan, are the 10th bodyguard."

Stefan swallowed. Did this mean he was out of the crocodile's cage and into the tiger's mouth?

"Your job is to ensure the director's safety. You must follow all his activities and are not allowed to ask any questions." Lena threw a photo in front of Stefan.

Stefan flipped the photo over and was shocked to see his father-in-law's face. "What's all this about?"

"Tonight there will be a meeting between the directors of two large companies, the Solonik Company and the Bratva Company." Lena pointed to the photo Stefan was holding. "He is the president of the Bratva Company and you must kill him tonight."

"Why do I have to kill him?" Stefan asked. Although Stefan hated Dasha and her family for always looking down on him, Stefan didn't intend to kill them either.

Stefan wasn't sure he wanted to do this kind of work.

"Why are you asking why? Didn't I tell you that if you're working, you can't ask anything!"

Everyone looked down in fear because Lena was angry. She was the strongest candidate to replace her father if he no longer led the company.

"I just want to know if the job I'm doing has meaning," Stefan replied. "He's the most powerful competitor who can beat my family's company. If he retires, the company will be passed on to his daughter. And I'm not sure the company will survive if it's run by his daughter."

Stefan couldn't reveal his relationship with his father-in-law or Dasha because if he did, it was clear that Lena would kill him right now.

Stefan is in a difficult position to choose. Either follow Lena's orders or forget the pain and humiliation of his wife's family.

Stefan still remembers the first time he expressed his intention to make Dasha his wife to Dasha's family. Not a single person agreed to Stefan marrying Dasha. They even openly humiliated Stefan at a company meeting by deliberately inviting Stefan.

Stefan was invited to a company dinner. He came with Dasha and throughout the event, Dasha's family didn't mention at all that Dasha already had a husband, Stefan. When someone asked Stefan's identity, Dasha's father explained that Stefan was their family driver.

Stefan of course was furious, but he got dragged out by the family's bodyguards and beaten to a pulp. But Stefan still defended his marriage with the belief that Dasha loved him.

It turned out to be all nonsense. Stefan was only being used as a tool to get his wife the inheritance promised by his father-in-law.

"What's wrong? Do you mind your first assignment?" asked Lena.

Stefan shook his head confidently. "I'll do it. I'm going to kill this old man who is interfering with Solonik's Company."

"Good. Then prepare everyone for tonight's meeting at the harbor."

Everyone quickly left the room while Stefan remained there. He looked back at the picture of his father-in-law.

If killing his father-in-law could be a stepping stone to a better life, then Stefan would do it. Stefan was desperate to prove to his ex-wife that he would succeed on his own terms!

Stefan tore the photo into small pieces and threw them into the fireplace. It's time to take revenge on the people who put him down.

He headed to the car to return to the mansion and set up all the equipment for today's meeting.

Stefan heard from one of the guards at the mansion that this activity was called 'fishing'. But Stefan hadn't gotten any more details about what they were fishing for because Stefan was sure it wasn't just fish.

Stefan picked up the gun that had been provided for him. Suddenly he knew how to assemble a bullet when he had never learned anything about it before. This was all thanks to the ring he wore.

Everyone bows when the director of the Solonik Company arrives.

But who would have thought that the director would extend his hand to shake Stefan's.

Stefan bowed and responded to the director's handshake. He noticed a name tattooed on the back of the director's hand. Mr. Stalin, that was his name.

"I am Stefan, your personal guard from now on, Sir." Stefan looked into Mr. Stalin's eyes. "I will sacrifice my life to protect you."

But the director said nothing and got into another prepared car.

Stefan followed and sat in the driver's seat.

The journey to the harbor took about an hour and the Solonik Company arrived at midnight.

Stefan and his group were led onto a ferry that was docked at the harbor.

Stefan put on his mask so no one would recognize him.

The meeting took place in a very large hall with many chairs. Stefan's father-in-law was already there, smoking a cigar.

Stefan tightened his grip on his hand. The anger came over Stefan again. But Stefan couldn't act rashly or he would make the wrong move.

He was wearing a communication device and being watched by Lena through a secret camera tucked into his tie. So Stefan can't do anything he wants.

At first everything went smoothly until his father-in-law took out a medium-sized suitcase and placed it on the table.

"Open it," Mr. Stalin ordered.

Stefan opened the suitcase and got surprised by the inside. So this is what fishing is all about.

"I brought you 30 kg of drugs."
