Chapter 8-The Right Choice

Stefan brought the briefcase to the director. He hid his trembling left hand because it was the first time he had seen drugs and it was in such large quantities.

Stefan had literally been trapped into the lion's den.

"Are you sure it's the 30 kg?"

"Yes, I measured it myself. If it all sells in a short time, then you'll make a huge profit."

"Like your company?"

Stefan tried to digest the conversation between the two directors. He finally understood that he had been living among drug dealers. Stefan unknowingly became the son-in-law of one of Moscow's biggest drug suppliers.

"I'll take everything," said the director.

Stefan gave the other suitcase given to him when he got out of the car to his father-in-law.

When the suitcase was received by his father-in-law, the ship's lights suddenly turned off.

This was a sign for Stefan to do his job immediately.

Stefan used a sensor camera contact lens that allowed him to see in the dark.

Stefan took out his gun and walked towards his father-in-law who was protected by several guards.

Stefan starts shooting, unfortunately the first shot misses and hit another person.

Everyone ran in panic as they heard Stefan's gunshot. Meanwhile Stefan tried to finish off his father-in-law's men one by one.

Stefan was very good with his gun. He even looked like a professional who had been doing this for a long time. Stefan's body doesn't seem to be in his own control.

Stefan loaded a bullet and pointed the gun at his father-in-law's forehead. "Is this a job you're so proud of that you look down on others?"

"You? Who are you!"

Stefan laughed. "I'm so sad that you've forgotten about me when I've only been gone from your daughter's house for nine days."

"You're Stefan?" Stefan's father-in-law stepped back in fear. He wasn't holding a weapon. "What are you doing here? How did you get involved?"

"I'm in charge of killing you. So that's why I'm here." Stefan pressed the gun to his mouth. "Who would've thought that I could finally take my revenge on you. All this time I've been holding back the heartbreak I felt from being humiliated by you and your family. So this is the right time to end it all."

Bang!

"Shit!" Stefan collapsed when a bullet hit his waist.

One of his father-in-law's bodyguards got up and shot Stefan.

But Stefan shot the bodyguard to death. Stefan tried to stand up but he lost track of his father-in-law. The old man was gone.

Stefan ran to find his father-in-law. He was sure the old man couldn't leave far because all the areas were surrounded by bodyguards from the Solonik Company.

So Stefan focused on sweeping the rooms inside the ship. Stefan isn't going to let his father-in-law get away this time.

While walking towards the pool on the top deck, Stefan heard the sound of something entering the water.

He pointed his gun towards the pool. Stefan approached the pool carefully. He didn't want his task to fail because Stefan wasn't sure he would live if he didn't succeed in killing his father-in-law.

Stefan reached the edge of the pool, but there was nothing in the water. When he turned around, his father-in-law was standing in front of him.

Stefan's body was pushed into the pool by his father-in-law.

Stefan was in a state of despair because he couldn't swim before. But who would've thought, instead of sinking, Stefan's body moved and swam by itself. The ring Stefan was wearing also shined.

Stefan immediately popped his head out of the water. He pulled his father-in-law's legs into the pool.

"I will take revenge. Look, I'm going to make your company bankrupt after this." Without hesitation Stefan shot his father-in-law in the head.

Right after the shot took his father-in-law's life, the lights on the ship turned back on.

The pool was full of blood, both Stefan's and his father-in-law's.

At this point Stefan lost consciousness as he lost a lot of blood from the bullet wound in his waist.

Stefan woke up and realized he was in the hospital. This is the payoff for the first task Stefan did. Even so, Stefan was relieved to be able to get his first revenge.

"Congratulations on successfully completing your first task."

Stefan didn't realize that Lena was on the balcony. She walked up to him.

"He's dead, right?" Stefan asked for confirmation.

"Yes. You settled in well and adapted quickly. Well, my first observation wasn't wrong."

"What does that mean?" Stefan tried to sit up.

"I know you have great potential. Would you accept my offer?"

"What kind of offer? Can you explain it to me without asking any more questions?" Lena took Stefan's hand and stabbed his index finger with a small needle.

Stefan pulled his hand away. "Why are you acting so strange? I've done my job successfully."

"This blood is a symbol of loyalty." Lena put Stefan's blood into a bottle. "Do you want to take my father's place?"

"Why should I take the director's place? How would I do that anyway? I'm just a bodyguard and a pitiful man you saved." To Stefan, it didn't make sense to take the director's place. He never imagined it.

"Because I'd prefer if you were the next director. If the current director dies, then I'll inherit the company. But I don't want to continue the company."

"You're his daughter," Stefan interrupted. "Besides, is there any reason to refuse a comfortable life?"

Lena laughed. "A comfortable life? There's no comfort in business. I wanted someone else to be my puppet. And you're a perfect one. My assessment is never wrong. So, are you willing to replace my father?"

Stefan didn't know if this was a real offer or a trap. He didn't have the knowledge to lead a company.

"You don't have to worry, I'll be behind you to organize everything. You just need to put your face in front of everyone that you're the new director."

"What if they ask me where I come from?" asked Stefan.

"I'll create a new identity for you. Don't you want to prove to your wife that you can be more successful and an established man after your divorce? Then this is the quickest way you can do it or you'll have to work your whole life to get that recognition."

This was a very difficult choice for Stefan. He wanted revenge, but he didn't think he would get an offer to become the next director of a company.

"I hate to wait, so decide quickly." Lena put the gun to Stefan's head.

Stefan closed his eyes. "I am willing to become the new director of the Solonik Company," Stefan replied.

"Guards, bring the old man in."

The director of the Solonik Company now entered the room with a bruised face.

"You made the right choice."
