chapter twenty five

I ran as fast as I could, my heart pounding in my chest. The once serene environment is now twisted into a nightmarish landscape. Trees with gnarled branches reached out like skeletal fingers, and the flowers wilted and turned black as if touched by death itself.

"Mirror, what's happening?" I gasped between breaths as I sprinted down the path.

"They found us." Mirror's voice echoed in his mind, urgency tinged with fear.

My mind raced. Who had found us? Why were they being chased? Questions swirled in my head, but there was no time to dwell on them. I had to focus on escaping.

I ran toward the light and found myself sweating profusely. I got up and went to have my bath. "What was that about?" I asked Mirror.
