Chapter eight

"Welcome back to my house Ella, how was your flight?" Mrs. Kim asked, smiling profusely.

"My flight wasn't stressful at all. And I’ve missed you so much Mrs. Kim, how have you been?" Ella said and slightly pulled away from the embrace but still holding her hands.

"Same here Ella." Mrs. Kim answered.

It was an obvious lie. The Garrison family never cared for anyone. They're too selfish to care. All they wanted was just to make money from anyone who could give it out to them.

Zoey just stood with folded hands watching her mother and her friend catch up. and while Jason also stood there watching them.

As they finished talking, it was just like they instructed them to look at Jason. And they three shouted at once.

“What are you doing there? Standing like a lost puppy,”

“Don't you know where to keep the luggage? Fool!” Jason quickly carried the luggage down to Zoey’s room. He didn't know if he should Ella unpack but he didn't want anyone accusing him.

Back in the living room…..

Mrs. Kim urged Ella to go and freshen up and come down "Go and freshen up Ella, lunch would be ready by the time you finish,"

Ella nodded and held Zoey’s hand and they walked to their rooms.

When they got inside the room, Ella saw how her luggage wasn't packed. And instantly she became angry. And yelled Jason’s name.

“Jason! Get your stupid ass here now!”

Jason hurriedly went to their room. He was scared of what he’d be expecting.

As soon as he entered, Ella grabbed him roughly shouting at him.

"Why didn't you unpack my luggage? Are you that dump? Why don't you use your common sense? Huh!" Ella questioned, hardening her hold on Jason.

"I'm sorry, Miss Ella. I didn't know that you would want me to offload your luggage for you and I didn't want to be accused of stealing." Jason remarked.

Meanwhile, Zoey was just eyeing Jason. If eyes could kill, he’d be dead by now. Ella turned to Zoey and said, "How do you cope with the dumb motherfucker? Gush! I can't deal with him.”

Zoey chuckled, “I guess we always have to break his head and put all the information we wanted inside before he could understand simple instructions.”

"No wonder he is such an embarrassment, even to his parents no wonder they gave him up. They couldn't deal with him.” Ella taunted.

Jason felt bad this time. It wasn't the usual kind of insulting words he used to hear. This one was different. He didn't know his birth parents and why they gave him up but he felt so bad that he began to shed tears.

"Stop it right now! If I hear you cry again, Jason I promise you that you are going to cry throughout the month.” Ella stated.

"Now get the hell out of here! You disgust me!" Zoey scoffed.

As Jason was going down, he met Mrs Kim coming up. She heard Ella’s voice and wanted to know what was going on.

“What's going on there? Why is our guest shouting at the top of her voice? What did you do?” Mrs. Kim asked.

"Umm… I didn't upload her luggage. I didn't know that she would want me to unpack for her. It wasn't intentional”. Jason said, trying to explain.

“You didn't know?" Mrs. Kim asked, causing me to be scared. Jason nodded and added. “I'm sorry Ma’am, I didn't know how to arrange them,”

Mrs. Kim hissed and remarked. “You should’ve shoved it down your ass!" and she went ahead to slap Jason across his face.

"Ma’am?" Jason exclaimed, holding his cheeks.

Mrs. Kim shouted angrily, “Get out of my sight, this minute,” and everyone came out of their rooms to find out what was going on.

Just as Jason held his cheeks and was climbing down, Mrs. Kim pushed him down. Jason started rolling down the stairs.

Everyone shouted, they all thought he was going to die. And the last thing the Garrison family needs now is to have any scandal.

Zoey shouted and ran down. You shouldn't have kicked me, Mom, I'm sure he didn't do anything bad to warrant this.” Zoey said. She was looking and sounding very angry. For the first time, Zoey stood up for Jason. Even her mother was surprised by Zoey’s outburst. Although she too was scared.

Ella on the other hand, just stood there watching how they were running up and down to make sure Jason was okay.

She didn't believe what was going on, her mouth was opened in awe. She knew that her family could be crazy but the Garrison family was a lot crazier.

While Zoey was trying to get the unconscious Jason to breathe. Mrs. Kim leaned down to assist so Zoey used that opportunity to scold her mother again.

"Mom, you didn't have to kick him. What did he do?”

Her mother hesitated for a while but she finally told the truth. “I just got angry because Ella was shouting and I knew that Jason was the cause of it.”

Zoey sighed, “Mom, you know Ella, she was just being dramatic. Jason didn't do anything, he was just careful with everyone which I understood. That was why I didn't talk to him. I just left Ella to satisfy herself. Mom, we can't afford any problem now. I hope Jason gets up soon.”

Mrs. Kim nodded in understanding as they continued to help Jason.

After a few more minutes, Jason opened his eyes. He was surprised to see both Zoey and Mrs. Kim on their knees attending to him. On a good day, they would have allowed him to go and die. But what happened? The memory of what just happened fled from his mind. He was confused seeing himself on the floor.

"What happened?" Jason asked

"Just go stand up, go to your room, and rest, I’ll instruct the cook to bring in your food." Mrs Kim stated.
