Chapter seven

Zoey eyed him in disgust and hissed before she left.

Jason sighed deeply, everything about Zoey is always toxic. He just wished that whosoever was coming wouldn't be as mean and wicked as Zoey.

"I just hope this important guest doesn't behave like Zoey and Mrs Kim. Otherwise, I wouldn't be able to survive it." Jason muttered.

When Jason was done cleaning, he was surprised to hear Zoey instructing him to go and have his breakfast at the kitchen island. It hadn't happened before and Jason prayed for such opportunities to come by.

The visitor…..

Zoey finished her breakfast and quickly freshened up. She wore baggy black joggers and a white crop top. She packed her head in a loose ponytail. She applied a little wet lips and she was good to go.

Zoey waved to her mother who was still eating her breakfast, goodbye. In the next few seconds, we heard the sound of a car driving off the compound.

At the airport, Zoey packed her car. She came down and walked hastily to the waiting area. She kept glancing around wondering where she could be or if they hadn't arrived yet.

She checked her wristwatch and it was past the time Ella gave that they would be landing according to Ella’s text."Where are you, Ella? You should be here by now." She muttered, sounding impatient.

As Zoey was glancing around, she caught the back of her friend, excitedly she hurried to where her suspected friend stood, taking her luggage. Zoey tapped her on her shoulder from behind and when Ella turned, she screamed with joy at seeing Zoey.

"Zoey!" They both hugged each other.

"Ella! Look at you, I've missed you so much." Zoey exclaims holding Ella so tight.

"I've missed you so much, my pretty Zoey," Ella replied, caressing her cheeks with her hand and making Zoey giggle.

Zoey glanced at Ella questionably and smiled.

"Pretty? Of course, you know who's more pretty. You're looking more beautiful and fresh. Your skin can be used as a mirror. You are having a good time in California." Zoey flattered.

Ella pinched her hands, "I know you are flattering me. I get it. Just so you know, you look so pretty and thick. What have you been eating? Or do you have Mr. Right already? Ella taunted.

Zoey chuckled and rolled her eyes. “Stop it, Ella I'm just seventeen. I mean, I don't have a boyfriend,” Zoey responded. And they both laughed.

Ella sorted her luggage and Zoey helped her to carry it back to her SUV car. As they drove off, they began to catch up, asking questions and getting to know what was happening in each other’s lives.

The ride back to the Garrison Villa was a fun one for both girls. And when they hit home, Jason hurriedly went outside to help them carry the visitor’s luggage.

Upon seeing Ella, Jason mumbled. “Holy shit! Ella had also frustrated him when they were still growing up. She was Zoey’s childhood friend until she went to college in California. She came from a wealthy family, her family had helped the Garrison family business pick up a little in the business world. Ella is the most arrogant person he has ever known. And instantly he knew his life was about to be a mess.

Just to avoid problems, Jason approached Ella immediately she came out of the car “You're welcome, Miss Ella. Hope you had a less stressful flight?” but she looked at him from head to toe and frowned.

"Why do you care? Just get my luggage, your questions aren't necessary.” Ella said, eyeing Jason.

As Jason was wondering what he did wrong, Zoey approached him and whispered to her ears. “If you don't want to die, don't get Ella upset.”

Immediately after she finished whispering, she held her friend's hand and they both began to walk inside like nothing happened, leaving Jason sorting out the luggage.

Jason shook his head and gently pulled Ella’s luggage out of the car, and followed the girl. He didn't want anybody accusing him of theft, he wanted to make sure they saw him handle the luggage.

When they got to the entrance door, the girls stood there without saying a word. Jason didn't understand what was happening and stood there with them. Wondering why they were standing.until Ella barked at him.

"You Fool! Don't stand there looking like a lost idiot. Open the damn door." She ordered.

Jason immediately left the luggage he was holding and rushed to open the door. As he opened the doors, he held it out for them but then, Ella wasn't satisfied. She shouted at him.

"Get out!" And she pushed Jason aside. treating him like he was just trash.

As Zoey wanted to enter the house, she glared at Jason. Coming face to face with him and being warned again. “Jason, I have been watching you act so stupid. If you ever annoy Ella, I’ll make sure you regret ever getting adopted. You’d prefer to stay in the orphanage. Don't test me.”

The warnings and all the threats don't get to him anymore. He just mumbled, “Sorry, Zoey.”

And when the girls stepped in, Jason carried the luggage and brought it inside. Mrs. Kim was already preparing BBQ meat and the aroma of the meal filled the air.

Jason knew he would only inhale but wouldn't eat it. As the girls stood in the living room, Mrs. Kim came out of the kitchen smiling.

"Mrs. Kim!" Ella greeted and rushed to hug her. She welcomed her into her arms and they smiled widely.

Jason saw this and imagined his father or mother welcoming him like that. He craved love and attention but he knew he was far from getting it.
