Chapter Sixty-eight

The next morning, the insistent ringing of Alex's phone tore him from sleep.

He took the phone from the side table, his gut clenching with anger.

His anger heightened when the screen displayed that it was his secretary.

"What does she want? Why is she calling me early?"

He growled silently because why would she be calling him some minutes past six a.m.?

“Her reason should be worth calling and waking me up from my sleep.” He said.

Then he picked up the call with the intention of lashing at her after she had spoken, if her reason was of no significance.

"Sir. Good morning, sir." Her voice came through, laced with a nervous tremor that surprised him.

He barked at her in impatience.

"What is it? Speak if you have anything damn good to say." He commanded her, still waiting to hear her reason for calling.

"I think you should be heading to the office now, sir." She replied, her voice barely a whisper.
